Descripción del curso
Phlebotomy Technician students must complete the Health Science Core with the Phlebotomy Technician Program. However, if the student has already completed the Health Science Core Module or has graduated from another health program with a passing grade, repeating the Health Science Core Module is unnecessary.
The Phlebotomy Technician Program is designed to prepare the student with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the functions of a phlebotomist with high-quality care, including blood collection techniques, proper use of blood collection equipment, reagents, and supplies according to the laboratory test to be performed, procedures for storing and transporting blood samples, special blood collection procedures, safety and quality assurance. Students also learn, as part of the program, relevant aspects of the circulatory system and major wellness and disease concepts, communication skills, laws and ethics, universal precautions, infection control, OSHA and CLIA guidelines for phlebotomy technicians, and the application of new technologies in the healthcare environment related to phlebotomy.
Upon completing the program, the student will receive a Diploma certificate. As soon as he/she receives the Diploma, the student can work as a phlebotomy technician.
Upon completing the program, graduates will qualify for employment as healthcare support workers in entry-level positions as Phlebotomy Technicians in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, clinics, outpatient centers, and other medical facilities.
