Descripción del curso
The Patient Care Technician Program is a comprehensive training program that includes knowledge of home care aides and nursing assistants, phlebotomy and electrocardiography techniques, and clinical and practical patient care skills. In addition, preparation for CNA licensure is mandatory and included in the PCT program requirement. The PCT program combines classroom lectures, laboratory work, and clinical experiences. Courses address basic skills, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), phlebotomy, electrocardiography, and first aid. Legal and ethical issues, as well as OSHA safety and infection control standards, are covered throughout the program. That allows the PCT to acquire the knowledge and skills of a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care, including EKG and Phlebotomy knowledge and abilities.
Upon completing the program, graduates will be qualified to work as Patient Care Technicians. They will be prepared to cross-train in health care and apply electrocardiographic, phlebotomy, and Nursing Assistant techniques. Employment opportunities are available in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, hospices, home care, and other healthcare facilities.
